May 10 (TheLedger) - The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) has summoned the chair of the Ceylon Electricity Board for an extraordinary hearing next Tuesday after extended outages rattled commerce and commuter rail over the weekend.

Opposition members say the outages expose planning gaps tied to drought-affected reservoirs; government MPs pressed for a timeline on recently procured thermal capacity.
